Moist and Delicious Banana Bread
This banana bread is so delicious you will want to make it over and over again. I love enjoying a piece of banana bread with a cup of coffee and this recipe is definitely a staple in my kitchen. It’s a twist on your traditional banana bread recipe but with no refined sugar or butter! Even without the butter, it is super moist and delicious! Banana bread is a perfect way to use your old, overripe, mushy bananas. If you’re watching your bananas brown in your fruit bowl, throw them in the freezer and save them for the day you want to make this delicious banana bread recipe! Just be sure to pull them out of the freezer an hour or two before you’re ready to bake so the bananas can thaw.
Bananas are a great source of potassium which helps with muscle and heart function. They also provide fibre, vitamin C, and vitamin B6. The applesauce helps keep the banana bread moist and the walnuts add some healthy fat and a bit of crunch!
Ingredients:
- 4 overripe bananas
- 1 large egg
- ⅓ cup maple syrup
- ⅓ cup apple sauce
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 ½ cups of whole wheat flour (all-purpose works as well)
- ½ cup chocolate chips
- ½ cup walnuts
Recipe:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine flour, salt and baking soda and set aside.
- In a large bowl, mash your bananas and add the egg, syrup, and apple sauce and mix well.
- Add dry ingredients to the banana mixture and use a spatula to mix.
- Add in chocolate chips and walnuts and mix.
- Grease an 8.5 x 4.6-inch glass baking pan and pour the mixture in.
- Place in the oven for 30-40 minutes or until you can poke the bread with a knife and it comes out clean.
- Let cool completely and enjoy!
