Easy Almond Bliss Balls
We wanted to give you a recipe that was chocolatey, healthy, delicious, AND so easy to make, and these Easy Almond Bliss Balls totally check off all those boxes!
We have all had those days where we wish we had something healthy & sweet in our cupboards for an afternoon snack. Sometimes we might grab a handful of chocolate chips and open and close are fridge 10 times hoping that new food appears (don’t worry, we all do it…). But wouldn’t it be great if we had a batch of these Easy Almond Bliss Balls in our freezer to snack on?!
When making this recipe, I like to make a HUGE batch (double or triple this recipe!) so that I can store extras in my freezer. That way you’ll never feel snack-less during the afternoon 🙂 Also if you have kids at home, these won’t last very long so you are going to find you’ll NEED to batch make them.
Another TIP: enjoy one (or three!) of these for dessert! They taste amazing crumbled into some vanilla bean ice cream… brb going to make this for myself right now…
A few notes before we get into this recipe:
- Almond flour = blended blanched almonds! The difference between almond meal and almond flour is that almond MEAL is made from raw, unpeeled almonds, and almond FLOUR is made from blanched, peeled almonds. However, if you only have regular roasted or raw almonds at home, these will work for this recipe as well! Just blend 1/2 cup of almonds in your food processor or blender and VOILA – you have makeshift almond flour. As a side note, you could also use another type of nut or seed if you don’t have almonds. Cashews work really well – they make these bliss balls taste super creamy!
- Chia seeds – can be substituted with ground flaxseeds or hemp hearts if you don’t have chia seeds in your cupboard. Or, you can even put together a mixture of all 3!
- Medjool dates – these should be fairly soft. If they are hardened (aka have been sitting in the cupboard for a little while), soak them for 10-15 mins in hot boiling water. Strain the water, then they’re ready to use!
Now that we have discussed all of the important stuff…let’s get into the FUN stuff!
RECIPE:
Ingredients
½ cup almond flour (see notes above)
¼ cup chia seeds
5 Medjool dates, pitted
1-2 tbsp water (eyeball it based on the consistency- you want a sticky and firm mix)
½ cup rolled oats
¼ tsp cinnamon (or more to taste)
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract (no big deal if you don’t have it)
2 tbsp of cacao powder
Instructions
- Blend all ingredients together in a food processor or blender. You may need to add 1-2 tbsp of water to get the consistency you like. We also recommend scraping the sides of your food processor or blender and pulse-mixing it so that you do not over-work and break your appliance (this has happened to me before!)
- Take a couple spoonfuls of dough, and roll into a ball. You can also roll the balls in more cacao powder or crushed almonds.
- Once you’re done making all the dough into bliss balls, store in an air tight container for up to 4 days! You can also store them in the freezer so they last longer 🙂
