Baked Pears

Does anyone else agree that pears are definitely an underrated fruit?! We seem to never have pears but when we do we are reminded of just how delicious they are. We decided to take this neglected fruit and make a tasty baked pear recipe so that you too can be reminded of just how incredible pears are. An added bonus is that this recipe requires only 6 basic ingredients and less than 30 minutes to whip up!

In order for this recipe to be delicious, you will need to ensure you have RIPE pears. In order to ripen your pears quickly, you can store them at room temperature near other fruits (like bananas)! If your pears are already ripe, you can store them in the refrigerator to make them last longer.

Now that you have some perfectly ripe pears, let’s get started with our pear dessert! Here is what you’ll need…

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe Bosc pears
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tsp coconut oil, melted
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 scoop of vanilla Greek yogurt

Method:

  1. Cut pears in half, remove the core with a spoon or small cookie scoop and cut a small sliver off the back of the pears so they lay flat when placed upright. Place the pears with the cut side up in a 8 x 8 baking dish.
  2. In a small bowl combine the maple syrup, coconut oil, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Drizzle the sauce over the pears.
  3. Bake the pears at 375 F for 25 minutes or until the pears are soft and lightly browned on the edges.
  4. Top the pears off with a scoop of vanilla Greek yogurt and use any remaining sauce leftover in the baking dish to drizzle over the finished pears.
